Automatic Blog Stats
Posted on January 5th, 2009 in Wordpress | 52 Comments »
I’m releasing my second plugin today, which I only started developing yesterday, after reading WPHacks.
Anyone who’s got an advertising page knows it’s tiresome to have to update that page every so often with the newest pagerank, alexa ranking, technorati ranking and feedburner RSS suscriber count.
This plugin comes to the rescue! It automatically updates all those values once a day, ensuring that you always have the most up to date statistics page.
To read what statistics are available, and for download instructions, go here.
If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Installed a Cool WP Plugin to keep your “advertise” page updated by @improvingtheweb http://tinyurl.com/a3gdsa Check it out!
Just tweeted about this plugin to my followers
Simple and beautiful! thanks for the great plugin!
This is a great plugin Wesley!
Very impressive stats overall. What type of load does it put on your server and would you have to run the WordPress WP Cache plugin?
Madmouse, the plugin updates the stats just once per day. That takes about 5 seconds. The rest of the day, it simply returns the cached results.
Wow great, I will feature it on my blog. Looks really great, as soon as I will open advertising on my blog, I’ll use this for sure.
Cheers,
The Moneyac
Wow! Thank you!
I always wanted to write in my site something like that. Can I take part of your post to my blog?
Of course, I will add backlink?
Regards, Timur I.
Using statcounter.com is best gives deep details like ip, location, duration spent in page, referrer and exit pages. also it works great with wp. Best of all it is free.
Nice plug in, I’ll get it for my new blog.
Thanks for share
Great tips Jean.. I didn’t know about most of them before After this article we all have to go to update our advertise pages on blogs

That’s really cool tips but how about technorati rank, alexa, rss readers or maybe social bookmarks.?!

Thanks for this great Wordpress tips Jean. These are great add-ons for every blog to display even more real time stats. Stats page will need some traffic stats also, but for that we will need some plugins to do that part of job.

Thanks for sharing ! I like to do things myself to have more control so this is definitely a great plugin-free tip. Definitely will blog about this in the next few days.

The stats would come in handy. But would it reduce loading time for the website?
This comment was originally posted on http://www.problogdesign.com/)“>Pro Blog Design
Nope, not by anything noticeable. Think of how much work WordPress has to do just to pull comments on a post from the database. It won’t have any trouble executing a few queries like this.
The thing that might slow down loading times a bit would be if you started including Alexa and Technorati widgets with JavaScript, but a lot of people seem to want them here so maybe that would be worth it?

Thanks so much for the article. I enjoyed it so much that I made a plugin out of this
I ofcourse asked permission to the article writer first, which he agreed to.
You can download it here: http://www.improvingtheweb.com…..log-stats/
It includes everything discussed in the article, but also pagerank, alexa, technorati, feedburner, delicious, user count, link count, tag count, etc..
Acknowledgements to problogdesign and wprecipes are in the plugin as well. Thanks again for the idea

The link you have for Daily Top 10 is linking to the old version of the plugin, not the minty fresh update.
