Create a blog and start building a reputation. Interact on forums. You really don’t need to go to elance or other such sites.
Can anyone tell me what new features can still be added to jquery? It looks pretty feature complete to me.I wish they focused more on jquery-ui, as I find that a bit lacking at the moment.
I’m wondering whether this is stupid or brilliant.
Spammers will have a field day with this feature..
Christmas songs are inherently boring
Re: “I’ve always been curious to know why major blogging platforms don’t simply add such a functionality to their commenting systems”
Because it adds nothing to 99% of conversations?
I’m not sure why a blog post was even made on this subject, it’s not like this is a major new feature. It’s an extra, and it’s.. nice.
http://castingwords.com/ is good, but ofcourse all transcription services are pretty expensive. (And more so if you want it done fast)
Any chance of a transcript? (With the answers) Would read much quicker than a 2 hour podcast.
Thanks.
You need to register, then they provide you with the option of downloading the PDF.
Those seem like entirely different results though. Seems all books with "wrox" in the title are deleted. If you want another example, you can try "harry potter" or "sitepoint".
There are already a number of sites that do this.
The website loads very slow, it seems that they do not cache data at all. As a matter of fact, I have already seen an error in which their compete.com API code is listed in plain text..
PHP.ini -> show_errors = 0
Heh, appears they read this and deleted all wrox books. Good for them But there is still looaaads of illegal content being shared, so please take care of this globally instead of just this specific instance.
Love the site, but they seriously need to clean up the amount of illegal ebooks being shared.I mean, http://www.scribd.com/search?query=wrox&x=0&y=0 says it all doesn’t it.
Wouldn’t even be hard to filter this out, anything uploaded over 200 pages should be investigated.
Ofcourse, much of their growth may come from these illegal downloads (we don’t know)… So until they start getting complains, they’ll probably let it slide: the youtube way.
Edit: what the… I posted this comment on techcrunch a few hours ago, and now I recheck the search results, all 600+ ebooks seem to have disappeared.
No matter, just search for something else. Plenty of examples still. Seems they deleted this quickly perhaps because of the comment, but are not addressing it globally.
It serves it’s purpose, but they seriously need to clean up the amount of illegal ebooks being shared on the site.

This was something I was planning to make for a while, but since you’re asking for it now, I’ll get right to it. Will update when ready :)
I’d just add "download" and "Need help?" links under these icons, but that might not look too pretty :)
Thanks for updating that sociable bug :)
PS: Just wondering if you got my email?
Oh, wait a sec.. if I use the custom fields to change this, it works as expected. But I also see a checkbox at the bottom of the page, which does not work.
Another error (or maybe it’s just me again :)), disabling sociable for a specific post or page (page in my case) had no effect. It stays displayed on my site.
